Garnier Essentials collection, Nuxe Micellar Foam Cleanser & Balea Urea SOS-Serum

When you have dry skin, which is even more sensitive and prone to dehydration because of the influence of external factors and aggressive ingredients, it’s not easy to find the right products for cleansing and additional care. For years I have been trying and using both cheap and expensive products, which I have been buying in drugstores, perfumeries and pharmacies. Most of the products are average and not good enough; some of them are totally useless and have caused me skin damage due to poor ingredients. I had a couple of products that were good, but still too expensive for everyday use. But last year, I accidently discovered a few products that have thrilled me, so I’ll share a few words about them with you. :)

Garnier Essentials Grape Water milk, toner and eye makeup remover

Although the cleansing milk is designed for normal and combination skin, it works perfectly for me! Its texture is very gentle. It has mild scent of white grapes, it doesn’t leave greasy traces and it does a great job when removing makeup and dirt from my face. You just need to place a small amount of cleansing milk on a cotton pad and gently remove the impurities. Later, repeat the same with the toner. The toner doesn’t contain alcohol and perfectly refreshes and removes any left makeup.

The eye makeup remover does a great job. Without rubbing and too much effort, removes the makeup and it doesn’t leave traces of oil and smeared mascara, like two-phase removers do. Although it’s recommended for removing waterproof makeup, I have not tried to remove such makeup because I don’t use it. It is dermatologically and ophthalmologically tested and suitable for people who wear contact lenses.

These products do a perfect job without drying out and irritating the skin. Also, the price is a real bargain.

There is also a collection for dry skin with rose as a main ingredient and collection for sensitive skin without scent.

Milk and toner contain 200 ml (6.76 fl. oz.), eye remover 150 ml (5.07 fl. oz.), and can be bought in drugstores for less than 30 HRK (approx. $5.20)/piece.

Nuxe Micellar Foam Cleanser with 3 Roses

I’m not a big a fan of roses as part of ingredients in cosmetic products, micellar cleansers even less, so this product is a real revelation to me, because I didn’t have any expectations from it. I use it mostly for cleaning the face and eyes, especially when in hurry, but sometimes as a refreshing toner and remover of excess from the face masks or unwanted shine. A real multitasker! :)

Small amount foam is needed to clean and refresh the face. Just soak up the cotton pad and clean the face in circular motions. The scent is delicate, floral, but quickly evaporates when in contact with skin. You don’t need to remove the micellar, because it also has antioxidant activity. It contains a natural pH and over 90% ingredients of natural origin. It doesn’t contain paraben, phenoxyethanol, alcohol or added fragrances, so it is suitable for sensitive skin and for people who wear contact lenses. Also, the product is not tested on animals.

It can be bought in pharmacies in two sizes: 100 ml/6.76 fl. oz. (approx. 70 HRK/$12.00) and 200 ml/3.38 fl. oz. (approx. 120 HRK/$21.00).

Balea Urea SOS-Serum

You know that uncomfortable feeling of very dry and flaky skin, when it looks gray and dull? Well, this serum significantly diminishes all those problems after just one application. So, you’ll quickly forget about them! It contains 5% of urea, which binds water well, so it enhances the skin moisture, protects from dehydration, reduce redness, dryness and flaking of the skin. The skin looks much prettier and healthier. The texture is watery and milky, the scent is mild, dry and very dry skin absorbs it very well, but it leaves oily traces on the skin. Sometimes I use it as a standalone product, and sometimes as a base for some not so moisturizing creams. I do not recommend it for damaged skin because urea can cause skin burning.

From this collection, I also recommend the lip balm.

30 ml (1 fl. oz.) product, in a glass bottle with a pipette, can be bought in DM for 30 HRK (approx. $5.20). Unfortunately, it can’t be found in all stores because it’s withdrawn from sale.
